Towing and How It Works with Your Car Insurance Policy
Having your car towed is never a fun experience. Many people are unaware that most car insurance policies cover towing. Each policy is different, varying from state to state and agency to agency. Most insurance companies, however, cover towing, and many will even reimburse you for towing expenses incurred even if you weren’t originally aware it was covered on your policy. Make sure to keep the receipt!
Usually when a car has to be towed it is due to an accident. In this case, if the car that is being towed caused the accident there will likely be two claims. One claim will be for the cars involved in the accident that were damaged as well as any other issues associated with the accident. A separate claim will be filed for towing.
Make sure to review your insurance policy before you’re in a situation where you need help. Knowing what your insurance policy covers is the best protection from perils and danger.
